Khobar maintain reputation at Midnight Tens
05/09/10
The Bahrain Midnight Tens took place earlier than usual this year due to the first world cup sevens about to take place in early March, the ususal date for this competition. Khobar Quins who are going through a period of re-organisation entered the competition with a pool of around 16 players, unfortunately they couldnt attend both days of the competition. The competition was played as a league system with 3 matches on the first evening and 3 the following day after a lazy lunch.
The first evening's matches opposition included Arabian Pot bellies, Doha IIs and Dubai Hurricanes? Also included sponsors beers to follow and drown out any bruises, sprains with the 3 remaining fixtures to be played the following afternoon against Bahrain GO the home team and favourites, Lanka Lions, Doha 1st’s.
Undoubtally our toughest game of the tournament was our last against Doha 1st’s. From the kick off and another makeshift side the Quins started well and were holding there own right up to half time giving as good as they got. With half time gone and another change to the line up both teams were not giving an inch whether in the line or scrum. Not until the last minute of play where several penalties were exchanged along with some head slapping that the Quins backline managed to release Quins stalwart “Max” to finish with the only try of the game leaving Quins with a 7-0 win.
We would like to thank all who travelled and made themselves available and to our sponsors who ensured we looked and played the part.
