Al Khobar perform in Riyadh

05/09/10

Once we were finally assembled, picture the scene a Saudi, a South African and a Lebanese travelling together in the same car and taking directions over the phone from an Englishman, Scotsman and as well as the local constabulary, What fun. Our intrepid navigators finally arrived after passing the compound four times mistaking it for a prison but they did have the sun on their right....at least four times!

With only six in the party, the Quins were reinforced with expats who were just out for a good days rugby. Our first game was against Riyadh and it was apparent after the first score that the Quins were to set tone with many scores to follow eventually running out winners 38-0.

Our second game against Jeddah was going to be our test, and what a test it was to be. Giving as good as we got in the first half keeping the score at a reasonable level but it was fitness and determination that took Jeddah through to win the day and the tournament.

It is hoped to hold at least two of these similar tournaments both at Jeddah and in Khobar in the future to keep alive the dream of bringing rugby to Saudi Arabia and all the players both national and expat!
